PRE-MARITAL AND COUPLES COUNSELING
Whether you are talking about getting married, engaged, or been married for years, our counselors focus on helping couples strengthen their bonds with one another. Consequently, pre-marital and couples counseling can be beneficial for couples to develop healthy communication styles, parenting styles, and stability in their relationships. The counselor’s client in these sessions is the relationship as an entity. The sessions take place in a safe and non-judgmental environment.
Some of our counselors are certified Prepare-Enrich facilitators. Couples take a thorough online Prepare-Enrich assessment. The assessment then determines the couple’s strengths and their areas of improvement. After completion of the analysis, there is a follow-up counseling session to discuss ways to improve the relationship by addressing the weaknesses.
The Gottman Approach is a well-researched methodology designed to help couples deepen their relationships. Scott Pennington has completed level II Gottman Method Couples Therapy, which has three levels. After the competition of an assessment, he then uses the results and applies this method to bring couples to a point of healthy communication, respect, and affection.
In pre-marital counseling, our counselors meet with couples prior to marriage to uncover the strengths and weaknesses within their relationship. As a result of the counseling sessions, the couple’s foundation will strengthen and will result in a healthier relationship. This will lead to a happier marriage. Counselors lead discussions covering various important topics in a marriage. For example, these topics include beliefs and values, family relationships, decision making, parental styles, roles, and finances.
