PRE-MARITAL AND COUPLES COUNSELING
Whether you are seriously dating, engaged, talking about getting married, or married for years, our counselors focus on helping couples strengthen their bonds with one another. Pre-marital and couples counseling can be beneficial for couples to develop healthy communication styles, parenting styles, stability and more fulfillment in their relationships. The counselor’s client in these sessions is the relationship as an entity and not the individuals. The sessions take place in a safe and non-judgmental environment.
Some of our counselors and our coach are certified Prepare-Enrich facilitators. Couples take a thorough online Prepare-Enrich assessment. The assessment identifies the couple’s strengths and areas of improvement. After completion of the analysis and results review and briefing, you can opt for additional follow-up counseling sessions at your discretion to discuss ways to strengthen your relationship by reviewing areas of improvements that could become problematic in the future if not addressed. The counselor or coach is not there to tell you if you should be together or not, we are assuming that, if you are here, you do want your relationship to work. Consequently, we are using this analysis and tools to give you the necessary steps and skills to succeed. The counselor or coach will offer the couple the proper tools to explore and resolve challenges in a healthy way.
The Gottman Approach is a well-researched methodology designed to help couples deepen their relationships. Scott Pennington and Christie Wakefield are Gottman trained. In a similar process to Prepare/ Enrich, Scott and Christie use the decades of couples research and help you learn and apply the Gottman methods and exercises to bring your couple to a point of healthy communication, respect, affection, and fulfillment.
PRE-MARITAL COUNSELING OR COACHING
In pre-marital counseling or coaching, we meet couples prior to marriage to uncover the strengths and weaknesses within the relationship. As a result of the sessions, the couple’s foundation will strengthen and will result in a healthier relationship. This will lead to a happier marriage. We lead discussions covering various important topics in a marriage, such as communication styles, conflict resolutions, beliefs and values, family relationships, decision making, intimacy, parental styles, roles, and finances.
