Hello and welcome!
Finding a therapist that you connect with can be a daunting task, so let me tell you a little about myself.
I received my Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from the University of Kansas and my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from St. Olaf College.
I completed an internship at the University of Kansas’s Counseling Laboratory for the Exploration of Optimal States where I researched and counseled highly creative and gifted high school students, and my practicum at Baker University where I counseled college students on a variety of issues.
My Treatment Approach
I approach therapy through a person-centered lens, informed by Humanistic and Psychodynamic theories and utilizing techniques from an eclectic mix of therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
I appreciate that every client I see is unique and special, and I work very hard to create a warm, supportive environment in which strengths are uncovered and clients are challenged and encouraged to grow.
Like Carl Rogers, I believe that clients are the authority on their inner experiences. I accept clients as they are, and help them achieve their goals by emphasizing the following therapeutic values:
– Optimistic view of humanity
– Every individual has value
– Non-judgmental environment
– Genuineness
– Unconditional positive regard
I specialize in treating anxiety and depression in adolescents and young adults, and am experienced in treating ADHD, mood disorders, relationship issues, identity and gender issues, adjustment disorders, domestic abuse, sexual assault and violence, personality disorders, alcohol & drug dependencies, Autism spectrum, obsessive compulsive disorders, trauma, suicidal ideation and self-harm.
I am proud to be an LGBTQ+ ally.
Regardless of what you are facing, I will help you feel safe, heard, and empowered to make positive changes in your life.
