FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What will counseling give me?
Counseling is an avenue to reach out to a trained professional outside of your own circle who will offer a neutral, fresh, and unbiased perspective on your life challenges and teach you the skills needed to manage mental health issues, stressful situtions, and heal.
How often do I come to see you?
Frequency will depend on the issue and the severity of the situation. Your counselor will be able to recommend a plan tailored to your needs. You might come only for a few sessions or weekly until you learn the skills to manage your situation and feel confident and positive about coping on your own.
Do you take insurance?
Please consult each therapist’s page. The office is mostly an out-of-network provider but we have the necessary documentation for you to file with your insurance.
What forms of payment do you take ?
We accept cash, checks, most credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover…), and Health Savings Accounts (HSA).
How do I choose my therapist?
Please check our therapists’ bios to determine who would be best suited to your situation. You can also call our office and we can recommend the best therapist for you. You will build a relationship based on trust with your therapist and it will be a personal decision on whom you feel more comfortable with. Do not hesitate to ask your therapist any question at your first meeting to build that trust.
How do I know the different types of therapies offered?
Please check our services’ page on the menu bar at the top of the site. You will find each type of therapy on the drop down menu. At the bottom of each service offered, we will tell you which therapist offers this modality.
How do I know each therapist specialty and philosophy ?
Please check the different therapists’ bios. Some have different approaches, certifications, and specialties.
What are your hours ?
The office is open Monday through Sunday from 8 am to 8 pm but each therapist or coach has preferred hours. Please consult their respective bios for additional information. If you need to meet outside normal business hours, please contact directly the therapist or coach of your choice to see if they can accommodate.
Do I need a therapist or a coach?
At MRC, we partner with Laureavida Wellness to offer our clients with coaching as well. This unique combination could greatly increase your chances of success. Therapists are mental health providers helping you heal past wounds, manage past or present traumatic events, or deal with a mental illness or addiction.
Coaches concentrate on the future. They help you develop a vision for yourself and guide you in building the life you want. Coaches help you assess your life in 5 main areas: nutrition, career, relationships, finances, and spirituality. All 5 areas need to align for you to be mentally and physically healthy.
Sometimes, sessions with both professionals are recommended. Past unresolved events might prevent you from creating the future you want. For example, eating disorders have been linked to past trauma. In that instance, a coach can help you change your relationship to food and manage your weight but, a therapist might have to get involved first to help you address your traumatic past.
What do I need to bring to my first session ?
Before your first meeting, please fill out the therapist or coach’s forms you will find at the bottom of each bio or by clicking on the Forms button on the menu bar at the top of the site and bring them to your first session.
What is your cancellation policy
Because your appointment with a therapist or coach is reserving their time with you, a minimum of 24 hours notice is required for cancellation or inability to come to your session. Clients failing to notify us at least 24 hour in advance could be charged the standard session fee. Any emergency in less than 24 hours notice will be managed by your therapist or coach on a case by case basis. To inform us, just text your therapist directly as soon as you know you cannot make the appointment.
