FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What will counseling give me?
Counseling is an avenue to reach out to a trained professional outside of your own circle who will offer a neutral, fresh, and unbiased perspective on your life challenges and teach you skills to manage mental health issues, stressful situations, and heal.
How often do I come to see you?
Frequency will depend on the issue and the severity of the situation. Your counselor will be able to recommend a plan tailored to your needs. You might come only for a few sessions or weekly until you learn the skills to manage your situation and feel confident and positive about coping on your own.
What forms of payment do you take?
We accept cash, checks, most credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover…), and Health Savings Accounts (HSA).
How do I choose my therapist?
Please check our therapists’ bios to determine who would be best suited to your situation. You can also call our office and we can recommend the best therapist for you. You will build a relationship based on trust with your therapist and it will be a personal decision on whom you feel more comfortable with. Do not hesitate to ask your therapist any question at your first meeting to build that trust.
How do I know the different types of therapies offered?
Please check our services’ page on the menu bar at the top of the site. You will find each type of therapy on the drop down menu. At the bottom of each service offered, we will tell you which therapist offers this modality.
How do I know each therapist specialty and philosophy ?
Please check the different therapists’ bios by clicking on the MRC therapists page . Some have different approaches, certifications, and specialties.
What are your hours ?
The office is open Monday through Sunday from 8 am to 8 pm but each therapist or coach has preferred hours. Please consult their respective bios for additional information. If you need to meet outside normal business hours, please contact directly the therapist of your choice to see if they can accommodate.
Do I need a therapist or a coach?
Some of our therapists are certified in coaching as well.
Mental health counselors help you heal past wounds, manage past or present traumatic events, or deal with a mental illness or addiction.
Coaching concentrates more on the future. It helps you develop a vision for yourself and guide you in building the life you want. Coaching supports you in assessing your life in 5 main areas: nutrition, career, relationships, finances, and spirituality. All 5 areas need to align for you to be mentally and physically healthy. Coaching also helps set goals and a plan to achieve them.
Sometimes, sessions including both practices is most efficient for you. This is the reason why seeing a therapist also trained in coaching could be quite beneficial. Past unresolved events might prevent you from creating the future you want. For example, eating disorders have been linked to past trauma. In that instance, coaching can help you change your relationship with food and manage your weight but, therapy might have to get involved first to help you address your traumatic past.
What do I need to bring to my first session ?
Before your first meeting, please fill out all the forms your therapist sent you.
What is your cancellation policy
Because your appointment with a therapist or coach is reserving their time with you, a minimum of 24 hours notice is required for cancellation or inability to come to your session. Clients failing to notify us at least 24 hour in advance could be charged the standard session fee. Any emergency in less than 24 hours notice will be managed by your therapist or coach on a case by case basis. To inform us, just text your therapist directly as soon as you know you cannot make the appointment.
