Hi there! I am Debbie Weitz, and I am a Marietta native. I am a graduate of Alan C. Pope High School, and attended the University of Georgia, where I majored in International Affairs and Minored in Religion. I attended Florida State University for graduate school, graduating with both my Master of Science and Education Specialist Degrees in Counseling and Human Systems.
My work and internship experience includes the FSU Career Center, Southern Regional Technical College, and several years as a school counselor in South Carolina. While a school counselor, I interacted regularly with parents, children and teachers around various initiatives. One of my specialty around that time was leading small groups around various subjects such as career counseling, helping with skill identification, resume writing, interview preparation, launching a job campaign, evaluating and negotiating job offers.
I value my clients overall experience, and work with individuals and families from a holistic perspective. I primarily utilize a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approach, although other theories may be implemented as appropriate.
My areas of interest and expertise include trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, body image, self-harm, anger management, self-esteem, sexuality and LGBTQ+ populations, obsessive-compulsive disorder, mood disorders, career development, academic achievement. I am also certified in the Prepare-Enrich program for pre-marital and marital counseling which allows couples to define strengths and areas of improvement in their relationship. In addition, I also offer family counseling.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, playing with my dog, trying out new restaurants, and traveling to new places.
Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule a new client appointment. I look forward to working with you!“
